My manifesto is a conlusion of this subject and this semester abroad. I wanted to combine my favorite values and ideas from the three workshops, into a conceptual project.
From the workshop at Huelva beach, i looked at my shelter and what i liked about it, and what i have continued to work with throughout this course.
It was the colors, the light and the fun.
The creation of happy emotions through theese elements.
From the Rúrí workshop, I found the contrast to my shelter on the beach. There was no happy feelings about this project, that forecasted 65 meter water rise. In the Rúrí workshop I focussed a lot about prevention of the waterlevels rising.
How we could make the world better. But in my manifesto I choose to create a solution for IF it happens. I worked with the coastline that host Valencia, which made me choose Valencia as my location for my manifesto.
From the workshop in Madrid, I was very fascinated of the new extensions or new usages of old buildings. The idea of bringing something new to something old, to give new life and energy and still preserve the old and the memories.
For me, the exstensions were a bridge from "the old world" into "the new world" - bringing the future, but not forgetting the past.
CONCEPT
My manifesto is a wall in colored glass. The walls primary job is of course to prevent the water from destroying Valencia, but it is also preserving the beaches, so humanity still will be able to go to the beach.
The very strong glass wall is colored in a light rosa color, transparent to give a sense of warmth and wellbeing. The transparent glass wall will let the light through the glass and through the water which will give rich oppertunity to play with light and colors.
Im proposing this new way of living, that will protect our shorelines. It will be a glass wall that regulates the water going into the beaches, and manages trafic from boats and divers at a higher level. It's a new extension to te old city Valencia.
We would gain an extra level to our beaches.
